About Campus Ahead
CAMPUS AHEAD is the collaborative work of the Canadian Council of Conservative Synagogues, Hillel of Greater Toronto, Hillel Montreal, National Jewish Campus Life and UOC, CIJA.
University Outreach Committee (UOC)
Created to advance outreach to the non-Jewish campus community, including administrators, academics, graduate students and donors, University Outreach Committee (UOC) is the table where all CIJA campus advocacy strategies and budgets are prioritized. Goals include engaging non-student campus communities in advocacy programming and facilitating collaborative research and academic exchanges between universities and colleges in Canada and Israel.
Hillel Toronto
Hillel of Greater Toronto is the address for Jewish student life in Toronto. Through exciting and creative programming and events, Hillel promotes Jewish identity, student leadership, and religious and political diversity in a dynamic and inclusive environment for all Jewish students. www.hilleltoronto.org.
Hillel Montreal
With more than 8000 Jewish students on 4 university and 5 college campuses, Hillel Montreal strives to facilitate and encourage active Jewish living on and around campus. Hillel Montreal, through its active student leaders, interns and professionals at both Centre Hillel on Gatineau and the Jack Reitman Hillel House on Stanley, is inundating the campus community with quality programming revolving around religion, culture, advocacy, education and networking.
We engage with Jewish students from a wide array of backgrounds and our programming resonates with the many faces of our community on campus. We are committed to inclusion, acceptance, and Jewish values and relating to the community-at-large.
National Jewish Campus Life
In May 2003, UIA Federations Canada created a department for National Jewish Campus Life in order to develop a framework for the Jewish campus service system across Canada.
Over the past few years, NJCL has developed into the most significant national resource provider for campus life and has served as the convener on a national level of lay leadership, professional leadership, and student leadership. NJCL is supported by CIJA and United Israel Appeal of Canada through the UJA/CJA Federation campaigns. In turn, NJCL works closely with the various Jewish Campus organizations across Canada to maximize the services and resources offered to the operations with the greatest needs and opportunity for success.
NJCL is a department of UIAC and part of the CIJA family of advocacy agents
The Canadian Council of Conservative Synagogues
The Canadian Council of Conservative Synagogues is a growing group of congregations whose vision is to build community, and to be able to do together what synagogues cannot do alone. It is new on the community scene, and is pleased to be able to undergird worthwhile community initiatives while providing benefits for the individual congregations as well.
The Reform Zionist Movement
ARZA Canada's mandate is to strengthen the ties of Canadian Reform congregations to Israel, foster connections with the Israeli Reform movement, and realize the vision of Reform Zionism. We believe in fostering a pluralistic, democratic society in the State of Israel, where no particular religious interpretation of Judaism takes legal precedence over another.
